Springtime ramble

We set off from Commondale in glorious spring sunshine, determined to find as many seasonal signs as we could and before long, we’d heard our first cuckoo and numerous willow warblers. The path edges were starred with purple violets and a green haze was starting to colour the birch woods in Danby Park. Swallows and house martins swooped and chattered overhead and we even saw a blackbird sitting quietly on its nest.

A quick pit stop at the Moors Centre for ice cream and then the 13.41 train back to Commondale to return home, after a wonderful 5 mile family walk along the beautiful Esk Valley.
